  7. challenge of how to promote peace, build confidence among nations and
  8. peoples, and strengthen understanding.  Accelerated by the rapid advances
  9. in electronic technologies, global information relations have become 
  10. central to international relations in general."

  12. So begins Howard Frederick's *Global Communication & International 
  13. Relations*.  Although *Global Communications* treats all worldwide media
  14. from historical and theoretical perspectives, the focus tonight
  15. will be on the use of computer-mediated communications to achieve these ends.

  17. Howard Frederick and Michael Stein will both be on hand to demonstrate the IGC 
  18. networks -- PeaceNet, EcoNet, LaborNet, and ConflictNet -- and to offer 
  19. strategies for online activism.
